It comes right at the start of the opening ceremony music as presented by NBC in the US.
It is actually in the intro by NBC prior to the actual opening ceremony.
It isn’t Bugler’s Dream.
Reunited – Van Helsing

Ok, and last night when the olympics came on the intro music was "Olympic Fanfare and Theme" I’m fairly sure. Or, it could have been "Summon the Heroes" I always get those two mixed up because a lot of Williams’ music sounds similar. Bugler’s Dream is often used as the intro to Olympic Fanfare and Theme.

*giggle* Sorry, I just had to comment on what Native New Yorker said "Mr. Williams is most famous for composing the theme music for all NBC News programs, including "NBC Nightly News" and the "Today" show."
I’m fairly sure John Williams is more famous for his movie scores rather than the NBC theme music. John Williams has written some of the most memorable movie music of all time: Star wars, Superman, E.T., Indiana Jones, Jaws, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, and Schindler’s List, just to name a few.

The song you hear during the NBC broadcast of the Olympics is called "Summon the Heroes". It was written by John Williams in commemoration of the Centennial of the Modern Olympic Games in 1996. It has been use by NBC for intros and outros to commercial breaks of the Olympics ever since.
Mr. William is most famous for composing the theme music for all NBC News programs, including "NBC Nightly News" and the "Today" show.
Good luck

The music leading into the Olympics during the montage sounded a lot like "The Penitent Man" to me from the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade soundtrack. I’ve been looking for the answer to this myself and can’t find a clip of the intro to compare the music.
If you have a clip, then you can compare it to this.

If your talking about the intro where they are showing china and talking about it’s history and culture, then the music you want is from the Van Helsing Soundtrack. Track #12 titled "Reunited". The theme they used is half way into that track. You can buy it off iTunes like i did, hope this helps!

This is not Van Helsing….. This is Steve Jablonsky’s theme used almost the entire way through "The Island" soundtrack. It is most recognizable in the final track, track 15 titled "My Name is Lincoln"

Fiddle tunes underpin Irish and American traditional music. While these tunes are often adapted to other instruments, such as mandolin, guitar and whistle, the harmonica is not commonly used. This page is a resource for harmonica players (and others) interested in this style.
