1000s of Mexicans die each year because it’s illegal to ship drugs to the US.
But, Americans use ungodly amounts of drugs and puts only a small fraction of drug users in jail.
Why does Mexico bother trying to stop it? Why would they care if drugs make it to the US?
They say they care, they don’t though. The reason, the government are in the drug rings.

Good question. I wish I could answer it. Mexico’s government is pretty corrupt. The cops are terrible.

They get the privilege of sharing a border with the United States of America. Maybe instead of a fence we should be digging a moat! We’ve already got the Rio Grande for part of it.

well they’d be more effective in stopping them if they had more support from the US government. remember, this isnt just a mexican issue. these drug lords are getting the money to fund their violence from American drug consumers. the Mexican government is left to wage the seemingly never ending war on their own and that’s the source of much of the instability in mexico.
